On March 22, 2016, John Doe was accused of sexual assault by John Doe II. No sexual contact occurred—rather, the two engaged in a brief wrestling match. Doe was mistreated by the university’s investigation and was treated as though he was presumed guilty. Doe is suing the university on four counts of breach of contract, Title IX, and due process violations.
Attorney: Riggs Abney
A former student identified only as "John Doe" filed a federal Title IX lawsuit last April that accuses Reed College and his ex-girlfriend – identified as Jane Roe – of causing him to be wrongly expelled and falsely labeled a sex offender.
On March 8, 2014, Jane Roe verifiably performed sexual acts on multiple party-goers, including John Doe. Doe was on full athletic scholarship and already had NBA prospects as a freshman in college. He was expelled from the university in a “emergency” crisis, before the completion of an investigation, and was publicly denounced. Doe is suing the university on five counts of due process, Title IX and civil rights violations, and is seeking damages of up to $7.5 million.
